Description:

S-REAF is a mobile edge analytics capability and mission planning assistant that is tailored to Special Reconnaissance workflows during pre-mission planning, pre-mission preparation, mission execution, and post-mission assessments. The system ingests and analyzes data for weather models (e.g., location, orientation, wind, visibility, sky condition, temperature, dew point, pressure, precipitation, and limited meta-data tagged imagery) from the USSOCOM proof of concept TAK Server and the Air Force 557th Air Force Weather Agency servers to support mission planning analysis and forecasting in a disconnected environment. The device provides results within the operator’s primary mission planning tool (e.g., Tactical Assault Kit).

Operational Impact:

Special Reconnaissance airmen in the field received a mission planning assistant, tailored to their workflows, that can perform mission relevant analysis on weather patterns in a disconnected environment.

Transition:

Software prototypes were delivered to Air Force/A5RS to support operational test and evaluation with 720th Special Tactics Group and Air Force Special Operations Command user community. S-REAF plugin was integrated into the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) baseline software for widespread distribution in USSOCOM.
