Description:

The Simplified Fentanyl Assay (SFA) (now commercially available as FentAlert) is a self-contained, single-use system for the detection of synthetic opioids (fentanyls) that is easy to use and seals hazards and buffer solutions within. The system includes all parts and consumables needed to test for fentanyls including buffer solutions and the sampling pad in a form factor that can be used while wearing protective gloves.

Operational Impact:

Lateral flow assays have been used reliably in the field for the detection of fentanyl and fentanyl analogs; however, they have required users to perform a complicated series of steps. The Simplified Fentanyl Assay has streamlined the process of using a lateral flow assay by engineering a self-contained system, so that users will be able to detect fentanyl reliably and more easily.
